Current Washington State linebackers coach Jeff Choate is expected to interview for the vacant Idaho head coaching position today.
Choate is in his first season with Washington State after being hired in January 2012. Previously to Washington State, he spent six seasons on the Boise State coaching staff.
While at Boise State, he was in charge of special teams. But he also worked with the nickel corners in 2010-11, linebackers in 2009, and running backs from 2006-08.
In 2005, he was the special teams coach at Eastern Illinois. His special teams were first in the Ohio Valley Conference that year.
Prior to EIU, he spent two years at Utah State as the special teams coach. He was a graduate assistant and worked with the defensive line and safeties, before being named special teams coach.
In 1997 through 2001, he was the head football coach at Post Falls (Idaho) High School. From 1999 to 2001, he was also the school’s athletic director.
In 1996, he was the defensive coordinator at Twin Falls (Idaho) High School. He was the head coach at Challis (Idaho) High School in 1994 and 1995.
